Even In The Dark – The EP

2026

Out Now Find It Here

Even In The Dark is presented as one journey through five movements.
It was written by Rose-Marie alongside the creation of her painting collection under the same title.
As a result, the songs ended up mirroring the fluid form and symbolic nature of the visual works.

Originally arranged to be performed live alongside an installation of her paintings, with one song flowing seamlessly into the next, Rose-Marie chose to record the songs in the same manner and release them together as one, staying as true as possible to the original conception.

For Rose-Marie, these songs reflect her ongoing relationship with grief- not as something defined by five distinct stages, but as an ever-fluctuating and transformative experience. This EP acts as a love letter to her community, and a testament to the power of connection.

Songwriting has long been part of Rose-Marie’s life, and although not the main part of her artistic practice, it has become something that sits alongside – occasionally feeding in and reflecting back on the same themes she explores in her visual work.

Back in 2018 Rose-Marie released an EP titled ‘The Lost Gardens’ which explored themes of grief as well as the tension between chaos and control found in nature and within ourselves. These were themes she was exploring in her visual art practice at the time, and the cover of the EP was taken from that collection of work – featuring 35mm double exposure photographs. The launch event for this record was held within an immersive installation of her visual art and performed on a garden themed stage.

In May 2025 at Green Hill Arts Gallery in Moretonhampstead, Rose-Marie brought her latest music into an immersive event within her painting exhibition at the gallery. It was a concert with a twist. The exhibition space was made dark, all paintings obscured except for one which was lit shifting light, revealing and concealing the painting in slow cycles. From behind the audience, in the dark, Rose-Marie sang five songs back to back and accompanied by a small choir of family and friends. In March 2026 Rose-Marie launched the finished EP with another immersive performance of this kind, which took place within her own painting studio and home.
